wedding photographer

A wedding in India is the perfect place to by standing some of the eccentricities of India. Globally wedding photographers confess that Indian weddings are indeed among the toughest to shoot. If you ask a Wedding Photographer in Kolkata that how difficult it is to shoot an Indian Wedding. As unendurable as it can get.

When it comes down to it, the reception of any Indian can prove to be the most crucial part of a wedding with the presence of so many variables which is not in your control. You are plunged in a low light scene, provoked to work with the DJ’s light setup, and you have no choice but to adjust. Here are 9 tips to help you overcome any possible lighting hurdles that get in the way of delivering exceptional images to your clients:

  1. Placing Lights according to the situation: Most lighting conditions cause photographers stress due to lack of putting together for the scene they’re shooting in. Place flashes in the far nooks of the banquets, where you know you will need a jolt of light or in areas that require a backlight to pull the subject out from dark backgrounds. Raise them to about 6 feet to keep away from having shadows cast from any of the seated invitees, and zoom them all the way in to prevent any light upset.
  2. Matching the Color of Light: There is no point of adding additional light if it isn’t the right kind. Match your on-camera flash and off-camera flash to the surviving light in the room. Depending on the temperature of the surrounding light (Tungsten, Daylight, etc.), dial in a Custom Color Temperature setting in-camera to balance out the light in your scene.
  3. Customization or Modification of Light Sources: If you have already through step 1 and step 2, then your present job will be setting out the off-camera flashes to create more guided and directional light sources.
  4. Aperture Settings:  The aperture is dependent on which lens you are using but keeps in mind you want a wider aperture to let in more light. It will vary influencing your available in-house light and the power of your camera. In low light, we recommend shooting at around 1/200th of a second, at anywhere from ISO 800-3200.
  5. Bouncing On-Camera Flash: In case you’re in a venue where the ceiling is wooden or painted then you need to make use of your surroundings and find walls or objects to bounce your light off of.
  6. Coordination with DJ for the lighting: Talk to the DJ about which lights will stay continual and which will be added later on throughout the night. As a professional Wedding Photographer in Kolkata cover all your primary shoots so you can focus on creativity and not worry about anything messy.
  7. Controlling Flash: Having a full-featured flash or flash trigger that acts as a master and controls your off-camera flashes gives you the potential to decide when it is necessary to add light to your scene.
  8. Creative Effects: You can use inexpensive LED lights along with flashes to make perfect foreground bokeh to add a bit flare to moment.
  9. Using Direct Flash on Dance Floor: When the dance floor is slowly gradually diminishing down and you find yourself left with three people to photograph, slow down your shutter and use a direct flash to preserve them in motion while sending the background into a blurred agitation.

Knowing what lights you need and where they need to be placed will lay the substratum for the rest of your night, so make good use of these 9 tips before your next shoot!

NICKYANKA WEDDING

There is no more lovely, gracious, and charming bond, close association than a good marriage. The newlyweds Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas dropped two images from both their wedding ceremonies leaving fans asking for more and not ones to dishearten, the fan clubs have got their hands on fresh images from their Hindu style wedding ceremony. In the images released by Hello magazine, the couple looks overjoyed and joyous at their wedding ceremony.

Being the wedding photographers in Mumbai, we were super excited like other fans to get the updates and heartwarming photographs on their Instagram handles. In the photo from the varmala ceremony wherein we see an excited Priyanka laughing her heart out as she tries to put the wedding garland on an evenly wound up Nick.

Another photo that has now come on the internet sees Priyanka dressing up for her wedding day. She looks every bit ghostly dressed in a Sabyasachi hand-embellished lehenga ornamented with tinsel. With hand-cut organza flowers, fresh loops in silk floss, siam-red crystals and layers of threadwork – Priyanka’s bridal collection is one to remember and positively the one to take cues from.

For the Christian ceremony, PC wore Ralph Lauren. The absolute, long sleeve gown was a “hand-beaded and hand-inflated dress featuring floral and scroll motifs, lace-effect tulle appliqués, scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar,” People reports. It took 1,826 hours to craft.

Nick picked a Ralph Lauren Purple Label double-breasted black tuxedo and custom patent shoes. A small piece of Priyanka’s dress was embroidered into his tuxedo lapel with the words “My Jaan,” Urdu for “My life,” People reports.

Chopra and Jonas have been drowned with condemnations that their wedding was a form of #sponcon, or sponsored content, a term for social media posts that are authored by or explicitly praised brands.

Some have speculated that PC and Jonas plugged these brands on social media because they have somehow ached for ready money. But Chopra and Jonas did what a whole congregation of other celebrities has been doing quietly for years: using the happiest day of their lives to get matter for free.

We are in fear of these astonishing pictures that show them kissing, dancing, happily walking down the vessel as man and wife and one appealing family photo.

A wedding is the most treasured and propitious event for every couple getting married. It is every couple’s dream to make their wedding a dreamy affair.

Everything is planned accordingly and the venue is marvelously decorated to provide it dreamy look. Of course, the groom and the bride are adorned up in the dazzling outfits.

Needless to say, in India, weddings are profligate and all rituals are performed, as well as celebrated to make it excellent and grand.

Neda Weds Sanjit- A cross cultural wedding

wedding photography

When Neda and Sanjit’s cross-cultural wedding photography assignment landed in our inboxes, we were confused, amazed and mesmerized at the beauty of this celebration! This couple’s whose love wasn’t subject to religion or caste decided to celebrate this cross-cultural wedding in three distinct ways. They first had a Gaye Holud, followed by a Bengali wedding ending the celebrations with a European themed reception. The team at Wedding Photo Creators shot this crazy-fun wedding brilliantly. Photographing and filming those candid moments, those secret laughs and so much more perfectly! Scroll on to see how Neda and Sanjit nailed a special kind of cross-cultural wedding occasions brilliantly.

When the bride and groom come from different cultures or different parts of the world, the Big Fat Indian Wedding is being filled with unexpected surprises.

Neda, 30, a project manager for an international oil and gas conglomerate, is a Persian lady. Sanjit, 35, an entrepreneur based in Dubai, is Bengali. The two met at Dubai, during a conference.

Both sets of parents were perfectly okay with the idea, except for one thing: What kind of wedding would a Persian lady and Indian man have? Both families were enthusiastic about participating in all the rituals for both the weddings. The fun of mixing two cultures has continued even after the wedding. The thing about dreams is that you need to work towards making them a reality.

Sanjit’s ancestral house is in Mumbai Shivaji Park and Neda is from Tehran. Both places are not only different demographically, but different in psychographic and all other aspects. But Neda’s family accepted all the loudness of  Indian cultures and the wedding was performed in a typical Bengali way which was very difficult from other weddings in Mumbai.

In the next blogs, we will discuss the rituals performed in those days. Now just scroll down to see some amazing pictures of this grand event.

“Wedding is about the two people apprehensive, and in the long run, culture plays a very limited role,” says Neda. “You deal with each other’s likes, dislikes, fears, hopes, and dreams, irrespective of where the other person is from. Even today, I am a curtail Persian Islam and Sanjit is a curtail Bengali Hindu but that has not affected our association in any way. In fact, I think cross-cultural weddings make the best babies – they’re fast developing and a lovely amalgamation of both sides.”

Most cross-cultural couples plan suitably cross-cultural weddings, but Neda insisted on an Indian experience, elephant et al.

Candid and Traditional Wedding Photography: Two different approaches

Wedding Photography

A wedding happens a once in a lifetime. People want to memorize their special day. Wedding photography is the finest form of art to capture the most astonishing moments of a couples’ life. These days, there is a drift of candid wedding photography in Mumbai which is catching up fast. Though this is the new shift, there are many fans for traditional wedding photography.

Anticipating the unexpected: Candid is always impromptu

Indian candid wedding photography is a composition of the old and new. Because it covers a very traditional wedding in a new and divergent hue. It captures people when they are not aware of their photographs being taken. Hence, it is called candid photography. The photographers capture images without mounting a scene. Hence it is organic and brings in a feel of realism. The photographer moves around the event area and captures people as they go about the rituals. In fact, it has become popular in recent times in spite of candid photography cost is greater than that of traditional photography.

Traditional is trendy even today

In incongruity to candid photography, a traditional photography in India involves sitting down pictures of the people. They are aware that somebody is taking capturing their picture. This kind of photography is more solemn in its approach. Traditional photography allows the photographer to create the perfect fissure to take a picture where everyone is giving their poses. It also means that people can dress up as they want and give a pose which is suitable for them more.

Candid V/S Traditional photography: the difference

Conventional photography captures events as they are supposed to. The bombshell of candid wedding photography lies in the natural reactions of the people. It captures people in their best emotions and brings out the feelings of that moment through a picture. In traditional photography, if the photo is of the recently wed couple, then they will be visible clearly. Also, they will be at the center of the picture. This is different from candid photography. There the photographer can decide a unique angle for capturing the couple. He may focus on a particular scene through a new position. And he can use the light to give a fresh look to the picture. Hence it is more creative.

The technical know-how

There is a huge difference in the approach of a candid and a traditional photographer. For example, a candid portrait photography will use light and capture a person in a more informal tone. The final look of the picture depends on the processing of the images. And of course, it depends on the photographers’  photographic skill too.

The difference between the two forms is in the way both observe a scene needs to be photographed. And also how they want to frame a subject in the picture and click it. The difference could also be in the ambiance they prefer and the use of light in them. Though candid Indian wedding photography is in trend, it doesn’t mean that the traditional version is out. There are many admirers of traditional photography in India as it has been an accepted for long years now.

In both types, the results are different. But depending on the photographer’s skill, both styles of photography can give good outputs. Moreover, some photos are the best when they are candid while certain parts of the wedding need traditional photography.

Indian Wedding Photography : Industry Insight

wedding photography

Wedding photography in India has been stupendously increasing in arrangement with the matrimony and allied business as a whole whose size is estimated at $25-30 billion and which is growing at 20-25 percent annually. There are said to be 10,000-15,000 candid wedding photographers in India who focus on the mid-to-high end of the wedding segment and charge anything between Rs 50,000 and Rs 7 lakh a day.

The best wedding photographers in Mumbai charge an enormous amount of Rs 8-10 lakh a day, with a team of 10-14 photographers, cinematographers or videographers, editors and assistants, at a wedding.

Wedding Photography before 2008:

But the market was not as emerging as today even before 2008. The wedding shot on those days was much different from today’s candid wedding photography in India. On those days wedding shoots highly empathized and representational. But the kind of storytelling and imagery were popularly established in West by that time.

Wedding Photography Now:

While communities like Marwaris, Sindhis, Punjabis, and Gujaratis have by tradition been allied with big fat Indian weddings, that surely seems to be altering, although little by little.

This could partly be attributed to events like the Mehendi and cocktails becoming standard, and partly to the rise of cross-cultural love marriages. What has proved to be a enhance to the wedding industry and, by extension, to wedding photographers in Kolkata and all over India, is that while the November-February month is still the most up-to-date season for weddings, other months are not as devoid as they used to be, as destination weddings become cheaper, with venues in places like Rajasthan and Goa, and even Thailand, available at inexpensive prices in the summer.

Besides the non-seasonality, the most conspicuous changes in weddings have been their imagery. While equipment like Steady cams and aerial cams are used more commonly and highlights for wedding films are made, what has caught on in a big way is what photographers call ‘couple shoots’. These are pictures of just the couple before or after the wedding (Pre/Post Wedding Photography). Professional Photographers in Mumbai and India are finding new creative avenues in Wedding Photography. What has changed now is people are looking for idiosyncratic and fashionable work, which needs more engagement with the family which a studio may not be able to do.

The Gap:

Almost every wedding photographer advertises themselves as a candid wedding photographer in India, though only a portion of the photographs displayed on their website seems unscripted. But couples seem not to care as they are not exactly looking for a manuscript of the meticulousness of their wedding. They just want the pictures to look dazzling.

Future Opportunities and Appreciations:

Opportunities are only going to get bigger with even the not-so-affluent in cities big and small experimenting with their weddings and bombardment out big bucks. India does have an award for wedding photographers given by a photography magazine and online photography company Canvera. And it certainly does not impair that wedding photography is easily among the most worthwhile genres for best wedding photographers in India.

Wedding Videos Now a days

wedding-photo

If you’re reading our blog, chances are you’ll be getting married sometime this year (or encapsulating the moment of another couple’s involvement). Congrats and wishing you all the very best !!!

You’re probably also going through the meticulous process of meeting with cinematographers (or clients if you happen to be the cinematographer ) and trying to come up with an intuition for a wedding film that is neither vicious nor epigraphic.

To help you in this pursuit, we bring you a list of what’s progressing to be the top wedding cinematography trends in 2018-2019 or maybe beyond that!

  1. Freeze Effects: There are two separate types of video capturing techniques that do this. Being the wedding photographer in Kolkata, you can use any of these or both as required.

1.1. This is simply a single frame held for a few seconds. Often used to accentuate a particular moment. Like the Varmala or Bridal Shower.

1.2. Objects stay in place, but the camera becomes evident to move around them. Many movies, commercials, live events like wedding, etc. started to use this technique right after motion picture The Matrix came out.

Of Course, both of these techniques can be time-consuming and requires a maddening degree of masterminding. But the fruit is pretty sweet and delicious.

  1. Aerial View or Drone camera footage: Drones are accomplished enough of recording certain frame of references that you simply cannot get on the ground. And no, I’m not just talking about those bird’s eye aerial shots of your ceremony lied closed in the middle of a picturesque estate. We’re also talking about candid moments that capture the suspense and hullabaloo of the day.
  2. Wedding Invitation Video: Wedding video invitations have been around for a long time, typically in the form of cute logbook montages or motion graphics pictures. Recently, however, the bar has begun to lift and now some couples are going to great lengths for their wedding teasers. So if you’re into Wedding Photography business, you can offer this Invitation video as a complementary to their Pre-Wedding Photoshoot. While some people may see these extravagant Save The Date videos as over-the-top and borderline vainglorious, there’s no denying that they mark a super fun emigration from the cliche old postal invite.
  3. Highlights Video: In the era of ever-declining attention spans, compiling a 5-minutes highlights reel to share or mail along with your wedding video is a consummate must.
  4. 3D Photo Montage Show: Still images, which are generally taken during engagement or pre-wedding, are digitally manipulated to appear three-dimensional—special effects and music can be added as well. So if you’re looking for a bit of entertainment that will admire your wedding guests, this could prove to be well worth the money.
  5. Pre-Wedding Film: You can use your Pre-Wedding film as a backdrop of your wedding. You can even use it’s a glimpse as a creative save the date poster.

Hope this blog will help you out to identify the trends and options which are suitable for you.

SOME EXCITING TIPS FOR THE Engagement Photography

Engagement Photography

Engagement Photography has become a staple for wedding photography in India. An engagement shoot is done during a couple gets engaged and it usually is apprehended before the wedding. Whether someone wants to recreate their proposal moment, or just simply want to capture candid and artistic photos of their ring ceremony, having an engagement shoot is a fantastic way to express that elated glow they get in the lead up to the wedding.

The Significance of an Engagement Session: Educating the client on the importance of an engagement session might prove crucial for the growth of any photography business and photo-artist’s relationship with clients. It is also a great opportunity for a photo artist to show the client what you can do without being in a zero hour. The engagement sessions give a great turn to the clients to understand how photographers work behind the camera and give a chance to practice for their upcoming wedding as the photographers subjects. Now, there’s a point to be understood by both of the parties, i.e; photographers and the couples. Sometimes, most of the clients consider the pre-wedding photo and filming session as a part of their engagement. But as a photo artist, it’s the photographer’s responsibility to educate their clients about the differences between the outdoor-based candid pre-wedding shoot and the engagement photo and film session. So a telephonic conversation may not be enough to know each other and to initiate the process of wedding photography and film. We always recommend a face to face interaction to identify the client’s preferences and expectations.

The venue, Timeline, and Date: In India, choosing the date of engagement is mostly a job of the parents or the senior family members. But as the photo artists one should be knowing about the venue and the timing as the main component of capturing the images or filming the moments is the lighting and the weather conditions. If a client expected to get captured in a park or such a place which is a natural outdoor then it’s recommended to be in the first half of the day and the rainy weather must be avoided. For the outdoor venue like banquets, it’ll be an easy job as the shutterbugs because the external weather will not affect the shoot.

Clothes for the groom: If you are the groom to be and stumped on how to dress for your upcoming engagement party, use this list as inspiration.

  1. Choose patterned kurtas or patterned jackets/ bandhgalas in interesting patterns for they are a great way to add a dose of personality to your engagement.
  2. Rajwadi Koti With Asymmetrical Kurta is the royal outfits that will make your features look sharp and you are bound to make an impression.
  3. Mughal inspired outfits like designed Kurta has made a comeback into the mainstream Indian fashion.

Clothes for the bride: If you are the bride to be, use this list as inspiration.

  1. Floor Length Anarkali Gowns.
  1. Gowns with attached capes.
  1. Glam Gowns.
  1. Light Lehengas.

Hope this blog will be helpful to the photographers and the would be couples who’re planning their engagement in coming days.

Sankey and Vishaka’s Pre-Wedding Shoot by Wedding Photo Creators

pre wedding

Being an association of the best wedding photographers in Kolkata, we choose to film couples in exotic destinations as per their preferences. Sankey and Visakha are a newlywed couple and we took the privilege to photograph and film them from their pre-wedding shoot to wedding and reception. Today in this blog, we will share our experiences with the couple during producing their pre-wedding film.

Mandarmani as a pre-wedding destination: Mandarmani is very popular now a day among the destination wedding photographers as a pre-wedding location. The core attractions of Mandarmani is the crawling of red crabs around the 13kms long beach and it’s known to be the longest drive in beach in India. From Kolkata, after crossing the second Hooghly Bridge, Kona Expressway leads to Mumbai Road. As the total drive takes about 4 hours from Kolkata via Kolaghat and Nandakumar. From Nandakumar, there is a right turn towards Contai. In the said Kolkata- Digha highway there is a place named Chawalkhola where a left side road ends at Mandarmani.

pre-wedding2

The Journey: So one fine morning we the team and the couple started for Mandarmani from Kolkata. Being in Mandarmani gives the shutterbugs some amazing pre-wedding photography goals. The resort, booked by the couple to the beach, well-laid lawns with verdant nooks, relatively low waves of the sea gave us the motivation to film and shoot the couple in the lap of nature.

Filming and Photography: Their concern was the pre-wedding film and we wanted to produce it in a unique way. Some aerial shots were taken to project the venue, and then we captured the picturesque waves of the bay of Bengal. Dine out shots, driving in the beach, low light shot during the night made the video different and colorful. Our aim was to establish the togetherness of the couple on screen. We also captured some worthwhile walking shots. When the joy of sharing sweet nothings turn into togetherness for a lifetime, you know the walk was worthwhile.

Importance of the Dress Code: Dress code plays a very significant role. A pre-wedding photo shoot is a window for others to see what kind of a couple you are. The photos are like an invitation for your friends to experience a fun day or evening out with the to-be-weds. A photoshoot and cinematography take a lot of time to get those picture perfect shots, and you really don’t want to be sweating it out while smiling for the camera. So we suggest our clients November to February due to the comfortable weather conditions. They picked a suit with waistcoat and gown type long dresses. There were Hawaiian collections and easy breezy closets too for candid moments in the sea beach. Colorful Punjabi suites were picked by the to be a bride for his immense affection for Bollywood movies.

Props as the side characters: Props like a jacket, umbrella, cycle, empty wooden boats in the sea beach played a pivotal role during frame planning as props are used as visual experience enhancers in the pre-wedding shoot.

Moments: Beach, car drive and candid moments are the ultimate epitome of romance. Additionally, fresh leaves, cool morning with few rays of sunshine made the perfect picture background. During the night, we took some indoor shots of dining out and bonfire. Wide shots in the resort arena made the couple picture perfect.

Our two days long pre-wedding photography and film project was an experience full of fun, new learning and joy. We’re known for our professionalism and the advantages of hiring the professional photographers in Kolkata are being discussed in prior articles. But it was our privilege that we got a very warm welcome from the couple and the friendly attitude helped us to be committed and deliver as per expectations.
